SHAFT COUPLINGS

Couplings are used to connect driving and driven shafts, i.e. to transmit torque. The advantages of using shaft couplings instead of pulleys are clear: 

• reduction in the radial and axial forces acting on the shaft
  
  • less bearing requirements and drive dimensioning
• increased drive efficiency
  
  • large torque losses when belts are connected are reflected in the drive operating costs and the need for oversized output
