MICROMASTER SERIES FREQUENCY INVERTERS

Fourth-generation Micromaster frequency inverters have become a permanent fixture on the market. Though they are now making way for the more modern Sinamics series, they remain available and continue to be a popular item among many conservative clients.

However, we have to accept that this series will be retired in the near future. Where possible, you should now be transitioning to the Sinamics series. We will be happy to assist you in selecting a suitable replacement for your favourite Micromaster.

Micromaster 420

Simple inverters for outputs ranging from 0.12 kW to 11 kW. When it comes to three-phase powered inverters, this is the cheapest solution, and is suitable wherever vector control is not required. Typically, they are appropriate for drives for pumps, fans and conveyors, as well as other dynamically non-demanding applications.

  • available with single- and three-phase power input
  • a standard range of accessories is available, including mains and motor chokes, various types of communication interface, filters, etc.
  • where single-phase power supply is required, in most cases these inverters can be replaced by the Sinamics G110 series, which is more affordable
  • tip: consider purchasing a new Sinamics G120C inverter (see the section on Sinamics), as you will benefit from a wide range of advantages at a very similar price, although this series is available only for a three-phase power supply
  • Micromaster 420 inverters can be purchased in our e-shop

Micromaster 430

This series of inverters is very reasonably priced and has features that can be used to control pumps and fans. Examples include pump cascade control and inverter bypassing when the drive is operating at rated speed.

  • a special inverter series for pump and fan drives with a power range from 7.5 kW to 250 kW (LO – low-overload)
  • the torque control protection feature on the motor shaft will protect your pumps from no-load operation and, for example, if the pulley breaks
  • tip: consider purchasing a new Sinamics G120P inverter (see the section on Sinamics), as you will benefit from a wide range of advantages
  • Micromaster 430 inverters can be purchased in our e-shop

Micromaster 440

These vector-control drives are the best-equipped Siemens inverters for standard drives.

  • available in versions with single-phase power input (1AC200-240 V) and various three-phase power supply (3AC200-240 V, 3AC380-480 V and 3AC500-600 V) with outputs up to 200 kW in high-overload (HO) mode and up to 250 kW in low-overload (LO) mode
  • the speed feedback in vector mode is mediated by an additional module called Encoder
  • there are numerous drive control methods, such as the above-mentioned vector control, with or without speed feedback, linear and quadratic characteristics, FCC regulation, and torque control
  • tip: consider purchasing a new Sinamics G120C or G120 inverter (see the section on Sinamics), as you will benefit from a wide range of advantages, although this series is available only for a three-phase power supply
  • Micromaster 440 inverters can be purchased in our e-shop

Important:

  • only this top range allows the braking resistor to be integrated for effective drive braking
  • naturally, a full range of accessories, including chokes, filters, and communication interfaces, is availablea new generation of inverters, being launched under the name Sinamics G120, will gradually replace the Micromaster 440 series – for details, see the section on  Sinamics
